Introduction to the Basic Sciences Group
The Basic Sciences Group of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Lorestan University, comprises the departments of Anatomy, Embryology, Histology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Toxicology. This group, with 9 faculty members, is responsible for teaching the basic veterinary science courses. In these educational materials, the natural structure and function of the systems and organs of domestic animals and birds are examined from the perspectives of anatomical structure, macroscopic and microscopic histology, and molecular and cellular levels in each species and comparatively. These courses, which are typically taught in two sections, theoretical and practical, provide the necessary foundations and prerequisites for learning laboratory courses, pathology of diseases, and clinical sciences. The Basic Sciences Group has anatomy and dissection laboratories, as well as histology, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology laboratories, which, in addition to student education, are active in research and the organization of training and research workshops.
