Introduction to the Faculty

Lorestan University initiated its educational activities in veterinary medicine in 1993 by admitting students in the Associate's degree program in Veterinary Medicine as an educational group within the Faculty of Agriculture. From 2001, it also began admitting students in the Bachelor's degree program in Veterinary Laboratory Sciences. In 2011, considering the increase in the number of faculty members and the establishment of suitable infrastructure, such as the completion of the new Veterinary Faculty building with a foundation of approximately 6000 square meters, on four floors, at the Kamalvand campus, as well as the equipping of parasitology, histology and pathology, bacteriology, immunology and cellular and molecular laboratory, physiology, biochemistry and anatomy hall, it proceeded to admit students in the professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, as well as Master's degrees in Parasitology and Bacteriology.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has been continuously admitting students in the aforementioned programs annually since 2011, and also in the Veterinary Laboratory Sciences program since 2018. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Lorestan University currently consists of four educational departments: "Basic Sciences," "Microbiology and Food Hygiene," "Clinical Sciences," and "Pathobiology." As a subset of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Specialty Hospital, with relevant specializations in the departments of: small and large animal internal medicine, surgery, necropsy, poultry, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy, is providing educational and treatment services.
